The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MCORP and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) aims to market and promote GTP through MIDA’s trade and investment missions, particularly to German-related investors in Malaysia and internationally.
Meanwhile, another MoU was signed between MCORP and eight landowners for the development of GTP on a new industrial area covering 341.18 acres (138.07 hectares), which will be developed in Bandar Hijau, Hang Tuah Jaya, Ayer Keroh.

PKNM IS KNOWN AS MCORP
SERI NEGERI, 26 July – The Melaka State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today approved the Melaka State Development Corporation (Amendment) Enactment Bill 2022.
Earlier, the Bill, tabled by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Utama Sulaiman Md Ali, was debated by four Members of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN).
It was passed with 19 ADUNs voting in favour, seven opposing, and two absent.
In his presentation, Sulaiman stated that eight clauses of the enactment were proposed for amendment.
This includes changing the name “Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Melaka” (PKNM) to “Perbadanan Melaka” (Melaka Corporation), with the commercial name “MCORP”.
Additionally, terms such as “Governor” and “Yang di-Pertua Negeri” in meetings were amended to “State Authority”, and “General Manager” was changed to “Chief Executive Officer”.
At the same time, the amendments also involve the expansion of PKNM’s duties and powers by including activities that can be undertaken—such as, but not limited to, maritime and shipping, oil and gas, energy, research and development, and information technology—under the implementation of the Corporation’s roles and powers.
“I believe that the development projects to be carried out by PKNM will cover all areas across the state of Melaka.
“I also believe that these developments will multiply employment opportunities for the local population and boost the state’s economy in line with the Melakaku Maju Jaya 2035 (PSMJ2035) Strategic Plan under the second flagship initiative: Melaka as an Entrepreneurial State (Industrial and SME Development),” he said during his winding-up speech of the debate.
